I have tried installing new drivers for my webcam, and uninstalling and reinstalling both Skype and Discord (they are both running off of an SSD). "Freezes" do not occur during audio calls on Skype.ĭiscord is nearly identical to the Skype situation, however the audio of the person that I am talking to does not cut out during a "freeze", thus making it slightly more tolerable than Skype. These computer "freezes" and webcam freezes may occur within 10 seconds of one another, or may be separated by minutes, but they always only last a second or two. My webcam is then frozen, although it remains on, and the only way to unfreeze my video input is to turn off the video chat on the call and turn it back on. The video seems to be unaffected until the "freeze" is over, whereupon the audio of the other person comes in sounding sped up, their video freezes, and my input goes back to normal. When a "freeze" occurs, the audio of the person who I am chatting with will cut out, and any input I am doing with the keyboard will be continuously input (as described above). "Freezes" are particularly awful when video calling on Skype. Any subsequent keystrokes during the "freeze" will not be recognized.
So, if I am moving using the 'a' key, and the computer "freezes", it will act as if the 'a' key is the only key that is being input. The input of my keyboard seems to be the only thing affected. When "freezes" occur during gaming, the audio and video of the game are unaffected. The three different situations are: during gaming (although this hasn't occurred in the last month or so), when on Skype video chat, and when on Discord video chat. I have noticed that this "freeze" will happen under three different situations. Additional symptoms pop up depending on the program (see below). For example, if I were typing the word 'about', and had just typed the letter 't' to finish the word when a "freeze" occurred, then it would come out like this: abouttttttttttttt.
The issue: My computer will "freeze" for a second or so (I put "freeze" in parentheses because I'm not sure if it is technically freezing my computer), and any input from my keyboard that is occurring during the "freeze" will carry throughout it. I'd really like to get it resolved, since my girlfriend lives out-of-country and we frequently use Skype/Discord to video chat. I've been having continuous issues with this over the past year or two (although I cannot remember exactly when it started).
